KARACHI: The CCTV footage released by the authorities that reportedly shows Dua Zehra, the 14-year-old girl missing from Karachi, leaving her house on her own has been pronounced fake.

SHO Badar Shakeel shared the said video, claiming that Dua Zehra sat in a Suzuki and drove away in the middle of the night.

The family disputed the video’s validity and filed a complaint. The footage was not from Dua’s lane, and the girl shown in the footage was not her, according to a comprehensive examination.

SHO Shakeel has been suspended for releasing a video without verifying its authenticity.

Dua may not have been abducted and may have left the house on her own will, according to police, who released alleged CCTV evidence on April 21.

It has been a week but the teenage girl who went missing in Karachi’s Golden Town area in the jurisdiction of Al Falah police station on April 16 has not been traced.

The parents had claimed that their daughter had gone to dump garbage around noon on April 16 and never returned.

Earlier, it trended on social media that the victim has been recovered from Sanghar city in Sindh during a police raid.

However, the teenager’s father confirmed with Bol News that the minor girl who was recovered during the raid was not his daughter.
