Punjab Assembly session postponed till June 6

CM elections in Punjab Assembly
LAHORE: The session of Punjab Assembly with no-confidence motion against PA deputy speaker and speaker on its agenda has been postponed till June 6.
The session was postponed as soon as it started on Sunday, after hours-long delay. The no-trust motion against the PA speaker became dysfunctional as no member of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) could present the motion.
The Mall Road has been opened for traffic after postponement of the assembly session in Lahore.
Under Article 127 of the Constitution, the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf and Pakistan Muslim League-Q had submitted the motion against PA Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari and Pakistan Muslim League-N had submitted the motion against PA Speaker Pervaiz Elahi.

Earlier, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi had directed the Punjab lawmakers associated with his party and PTI to attend the assembly session today.
He had directed members to be there at 12. “We will see who can stop elected legislators from entering the assembly,” the speaker Punjab assembly reportedly said. “We will strongly challenge this government’s fascism.”
Elahi claimed that the Punjab Police had taken complete control of the assembly.
Meanwhile, Punjab Police cordoned off the assembly with heavy contingent. The assembly staffers complained that they were not being given access to the workplace. Moreover, all roads leading the assembly were blocked.
The PML-N had decided to hold no-confidence vote against PA Speaker Pervaiz Elahi after he had refused to assume the charge of the acting governor of Punjab, a move that had further deepened the constitutional crisis in the province.
After removing Omar Sarfraz Cheema from the post, the government had notified Elahi as the acting governor until PML-N’s candidate Baligh-ur-Rehman took oath.
Bol News had reported that the staff of the Punjab Assembly on Tuesday visited Elahi’s house to obtain his signatures on the summary. However, PML-Q spokesperson hadsaid the staff was sent back.
