ISLAMABAD: Water has become more expensive than petrol, says Federal Minister for Water Resources Syed Khursheed Shah on Thursday. The second biggest issue after the water is population, he further says adding that it has been 38 years since we have not built any dam, BOL News reports.

He thanked the Engineering Council for arranging an event on the importance of water. The federal minister said, “Pakistan is in the biggest trouble at the moment because we did not understand the importance of water in this way, water is an economic bomb for us.”

He mentions that the points and suggestions given during the event will be looked after by the ministry, and we are not giving fresh water to the sea, which is the reason why we can not stop the seawater to enter the regions. 200,000 acres of land in Sindh have been lost to the sea, he maintains.

“We should not think about the present, but the work on future plans should also be looked after. Population growth has put a burden on resources,” the federal minister adds.
