AJK Legislative Assembly passes over Rs163bn budget for FY23

The AJK Legislative Assembly in Muzaffarabad on Thursday passed a budget for the fiscal year 2022-23 amounting to over 163 billion rupees.

All 32 demands for grants were approved with majority of votes one by one. The house also approved revised estimates of the fiscal year 2021-22.

Earlier, 25 members continued general debate on the budget for 3 consecutive days.

The joint opposition abstained from proceedings of the budget session.

Addressing on the occasion, leader of the house Sardar Tanveer Ilyas congratulated members on passing the budget and said the government will adopt austerity measures.

He reiterated that all available resources will be diverted to people welfare projects. Later, Speaker prorogued the session.
