ISLAMABAD: The Covid-19 cases in Pakistan have seen a sharp increase in the past few weeks and the country right now stands at a positivity ratio of 4.47% with 818 new infections in the last 24 hours, the National Institute of Health (NIH) reported.

The stats revealed that out of 18,305 Covid-19 tests conducted across the country 818 turned out to be positive pushing the country towards an up-mask situation.

The NIH also disclosed that four deaths were recorded across the country while 126 people are in critical condition.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Covid-19 positivity ratio in the country has hit a creeping 4.5-month high.

Keeping the spike in view, especially in Karachi, the Sindh government has announced the implementation of SOPs and social distancing mandatory in public places.

The local government allowed only vaccinated people at wedding ceremonies, gyms, seminars, shrines and other places.

In the order issued by the provincial government, children up to 12 years of age are also directed to be vaccinated at schools.

Earlier this week, amid the rapid rise in COVID-19 cases, the federal government Wednesday announced to fully activate the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) again after the surge in Covid-19 cases. Sources in the know informed Bol that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting regarding the rise in the Covid-19 cases across Pakistan and announced to revive Pakistan’s coronavirus response center.
