Renowned and outspoken journalist Ayaz Amir was attacked by unknown assailants when he was going back from his office on Abbottabad Road in Lahore on late Friday night.

According to Bol TV, the senior journalist said that the attackers, who were six in number, intercepted his vehicle and subjected him and his driver to torture, and ran away.

Chairman PTI Imran Khan strongly condemned the incident and maintained that journalists, political workers and other innocent people were being implicated in false cases.

He further said that when the government loses moral authority, they would adopt the policy of torture and hooliganism.

Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Sharif, provincial Home Minister Ata Tarar and other political leaders condemned the incident and also directed the IG Punjab to conduct the enquiry into the matter and submit the report immediately.

Meanwhile, the IG Punjab also issued directives to Lahore CCPO to arrest the culprits at once.

it is pertinent to mention that Ayaz Amir attended a seminar on “Regime Change” at the invitation of PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday.

Ayaz criticised the regime change plot and characters who played vital roles in this so-called change.
