RAWALPINDI: Dr. Syed Muhammad Anwar, acting chief justice of the Federal Shariat Court,  On Wednesday stated that there was an urgent need to foster religious tolerance, fraternity, and peace.

“The practice of any religion is entirely up to the discretion of the person. “Islam is the only religion that has respected other religions,” the acting chief justice of the Federal Shariat Court said while addressing the launching ceremony of the regional network of religious leaders and actors namely “weaving communities of Faith Together” at the Christian Study Centre in Malaysia (CSC).

He underlined the significance of harmony within and across different faiths as a prerequisite for peaceful coexistence.

The acting chief justice of the Federal Shariat Court explained that the Holy Quran has several verses that speak to the need for religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence.

Dr. Syed Muhammad Anwar stated that whatever occurred in Barma and Myanmar was not a reflection of their faith even though these events occurred in both countries. He claimed, “Terrorists don’t believe in any religion, yet the Shia-Sunni divide is likewise opposed to religion.”
