ISLAMABAD: On the news of the federal government’s placing his name on the Exit Control List (ECL), former advisor to prime minister on accountability Mirza Shahzad Akbar on Tuesday said it was a classic example of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB)’s putting the cart before the horse as there was no case against him, but his name was on the ECL.

In a tweet, the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader also questioned if the government would place names of the National Command Authority (NCA) as well on the ECL.

“Classic NAB putting cart before the horse, no case yet but name on ecl! May I remind it’s a settlement with NCA so will they put NCA officials names on ECL as well?No doubt left about NAB turning into IB. Money launderers on revenge spree,” he tweeted.

The Federal Cabinet, on the recommendation of the interior ministry, on Tuesday approved placing ten people on the Exit Control List (ECL) including former advisor to prime minister on accountability Mirza Shahzad Akbar and former assets recovery unit’s legal expert Zia-ul-Mustafa Nasim.

Bol News has quoted sources as saying that both the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leaders’ names were placed on the no-fly list on the basis of a private housing scheme case.

Whereas, the cabinet, which met in Islamabad with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in the chair, removed names of 22 people from the ECL. One time permission to three people was also accorded, Radio Pakistan reported.

The cabinet has declined to increase prices of 35 medicines and directed that no raise will be made in medicines’ rates without its prior permission. It also approved 30. 63 kilograms of silver, valuing 4.3 million rupees, as a minimum limit of blood money for the current fiscal year.
