RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leadership on Wednesday decided to visit Adiala jail to meet Shahbaz Gill, who was detained by the Islamabad police for speaking out against the state institutions on a private TV show, BOL News reported.

According to the details, the leadership of PTI will reach the Adiala Jail by noon along with General Secretary Asad Umar. Tehreek-e-Insaf Islamabad President Ali Nawaz Awan and former National Assembly member Raja Khurram Nawaz will also be part of the party delegation.

It is being reported that after meeting with Dr. Shahbaz Gill, Asad Umar will also hold an important discussion with the media outside Adiala Jail. The party leader will brief about the health situation of the PTI leader being detained by the police.

Gill was arrested last week from Banigala, in the capital, a day after making controversial remarks on a private TV channel. He was subsequently booked on charges of sedition and inciting members of state institutions against the Pakistan Army.

On August 9, Minister of Interior Rana Sana Ullah said that PTI) leader Shahbaz Gill was arrested “by the law” on charges of inciting the public against state institutions.

“Shahbaz Gill had made statements against the institutions in an attempt to create hatred among their personnel and incite them towards revolt,” he said while addressing a press conference here.

Flanked by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb, he said a case 691/22 was registered against Gill in Kohsar police station under sections 120, 124-A (sedition), 505 (statements conducing to public mischief), and others of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
