Army captain, four soldiers martyred in North Waziristan

RAWALPINDI: A Pakistan Army officer and four soldiers embraced martyrdom while five terrorists were killed during two separate intelligence-based operations in North Waziristan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces conducted two separate Intelligence Based Operations in the general area of Boyya and Mir Ali.

An intense exchange of fire took place between army troops and terrorists in Boyya. The soldiers effectively engaged the location of terrorists and recovered weapons and ammunition. “The killed terrorists remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and killing of innocent citizens,” the military’s press wing said.

During intense exchange of fire, Captain Abdul Wali, 26, resident of Wana, South Waziristan District having fought gallantly and embraced martyrdom.

The other martyred soldiers were Naib Subedar Nawaz, 45, resident of Abbottabad, Havaldar Ghulam Ali, 34, resident of Sargodha, Lance Naik Ilyas, 33, resident of Mianwali, and Sepoy Zafar Ullah, 29, resident of Mianwali.

The military’s media wing said that sanitisation of the area is being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area. “Pakistan Army is determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers will not go unpunished,” it further said.

Security forces have conducted a similar intelligence-based operation in Mir Ali area and killed a terrorist commander identified as Tufail.

The army press wing said the killed terrorist remained actively involved in terrorism activities against security forces, preparation of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and killing of innocent citizens.

He was the mastermind behind major terror activities in the area. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorist, it added.
