Bahrain’s commander-in-chief calls Gen Bajwa, offers support for flood victims

RAWALPINDI: A high-ranking military official of the Kingdom of Bahrain offered his full support to the flood-hit people of Pakistan.

Bahrain’s Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa on Wednesday had a telephonic conversation with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

During the conversation, the Bahrain’s commander-in-chief expressed his grief over the devastation caused by unprecedented floods in Pakistan and offered sincere condolence to the families of the victims

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), he also appreciated Pakistan Army’s efforts for rescue and relief in flood affected areas.

The army chief thanked Kingdom of Bahrain for the support and reiterated that assistance from its brotherly countries would be vital in rescue and rehabilitation of the victims.

A day earlier, European Union (EU) Ambassador Dr Riina Kionka called on Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the General Headquarters (GHQ) and expressed her grief over the devastation caused by the catastrophic floods.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security and bilateral cooperation with the European Union (EU) came under discussion,

According to a military press statement, Gen Bajwa said Pakistan valued its relations with the EU countries. “We earnestly look forward to enhancing mutually beneficial multi-domain relations based on common interests,” he was quoted as saying.

He congratulated the ambassador for assuming her new appointment. Both the dignitaries hoped to further enhance bilateral engagement based on common interests.

The visiting dignitary offered full support to Pakistan and appreciated the army for assisting the civil administration during the floods.

The envoy also pledged to play her role in enhancing relations between Pakistan and the EU. The army chief thanked the EU for its support and reiterated that assistance from the global partners would be vital in rescue and rehabilitation of the flood victims.
