Chehlum procession
ISLAMABAD: The Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain and his martyred companions is being observed today (Saturday) with religious zeal and respect to remember the great sacrifice in the history of Islam.
On the occasion, the mourning processions will be taken out in various cities and towns across the country to pay homage to the martyrs of Karbala.
Funeral gatherings will also be observed today and the scholars and Ulema will address the mourners on the occasion. Meanwhile, the incident of Karbala will also be highlighted in the speeches.
The federal government has given permission to deploy army troops and civil armed forces personnel to maintain law and order across the country on the occasion of Imam Hussain’s Chehlum.
A Central Control Room has been established in the Ministry of Interior to monitor the overall security situation in the country.
Whereas, in Sindh and Punjab, pillion riding was also banned for the Chehlum while in Quetta mobile phone service will remain suspended for the day from 8am to 5pm.
On the other hand in Karachi, the traffic police have devised a plan for the main procession of Hazrat Imam Hussain’s chehlum.
Educational institutes will also remain closed in the city on the occasion.
It is pertinent to mention here that the main rally will come out from Nishtar Park to end at Hussainiya Iranian Imambargah Kharadar while moving through its traditional routes.
The procession will proceed from Nishtar Park to Exhibition, MA Jinnah Road, Sadar from Seabreeze, Regal to Tibet Center and Tibet Center from MA Jinnah Road to Light House, Bolton Market to Kharadar Hussainia Iraniyan Imambargah.
As soon as the procession leaves Nishtar Park, MA Jinnah Road will be closed for general traffic from Gurmandira, while Shahrah Quaidin will be closed from Society Office to Mazar Quaid.
