PM appreciates UAE minister for generous $10mn donation

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister for Culture, Youth and Community Development Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan for his generous donation of $10 million for the flood victims of Pakistan.

In a telephonic conversation, the prime minister said that the Pakistani nation would always remember his huge support and immense affection for the people of Pakistan and compassion for humanity.

The prime minister observed that the amount would be of great help in the rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts. He informed the UAE minister about the historic devastation caused by the recent floods and the government’s steps in response to the natural disaster.

UAE minister Sheikh Nahyan expressed his grief over the human and financial losses and expressed his solidarity with Pakistan in this difficult situation.

Earlier UAE minister and Chairman Bank Alfalah Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan had announced a relief assistance of $10 million for relief and rehabilitation of the flood-stricken people of Pakistan.

According to the statement released by Prime Minister’s Office, this is the biggest ever donation made so far at the individual level made for the flood survivors of the country,

In a message of gratitude to the UAE Minister for the generous support, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had thanked the UAE minister for the generous donation for relief and rehabilitation of flood-hit population.

“This manifests your deep love for the people of Pakistan and sympathy for the suffering humanity,” the prime minister said in his message.

He said that the people of Pakistan would never forget this brotherhood as it would greatly help the country in relief and rehabilitation of the affected people.

In a tweet, Director General ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar had said that Sheikh Nahayan bin Mubarak Al Nahayan and UAE have always helped Pakistan during difficult times.
