ISLAMABAD: The widow of journalist and BOL News anchorperson Arshad Sharif has said her husband was martyred for speaking the truth.

While speaking to media, Javeria Siddique said Arshad is being shifted to Quaid-e-Azam Hospital. She thanked media for their support and request to pray for his forgiveness.

She urged the media and masses to respect their family privacy and avoid sharing pictures of children. “We had only one man in the household and we are now without support,” she said.

She added that she was informed by the Kenyan journalists that her husband was killed in Nairobi. She also urged to raise their voice for the slain journalist. She also demanded to reveal the facts that forced Arshad Sharif to leave Pakistan.

It should be noted that Arshad Sharif body arrived in Islamabad in the wee hours of Wednesday as a large number of well-wishers gathered at the airport.

The family of Arshad Sharif decided to conduct another post-mortem. His funeral prayers will be held on Thursday at Faisal Mosque after which he will be laid to rest at the H-11 Graveyard.

A team has been formed to investigate the martyrdom of Arshad Sharif on behalf of the Ministry of Interior. The government has also decided to form a judicial commission to probe the circumstances leading to the murder of the slain journalist.
