Finance minister assures support for flood victims, development in Sindh
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar here on Friday assured the Sindh government of full support of the federal government.
The assurance was made during a meeting of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah with the finance minister in Islamabad, said a press release issued here.
Both the leaders discussed issues of mutual interest including relief and rehabilitation work in flood-affected areas in Sindh’s province.
The Sindh CM apprised the finance minister of the damages caused by the unprecedented floods and shared about relief and rehabilitation works being carried out in flood-affected areas.
The finance minister expressed the resolve of the federal government to stand hand in hand with the Sindh government in this difficult time caused by devastating floods.
He extended full support and cooperation of the federal government in the relief and rehabilitation of the flood affected people and for the development of the province.
Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inaam Memon, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) chairman, secretary finance and senior officers attended the meeting.
On October 20, President Dr Arif Alvi has stressed the need for the government, public representatives, NGOs and other stakeholders to complement each other’s efforts in providing relief to the flood victims, restoring their livelihoods and rebuilding their houses and physical infrastructure in the flood-hit areas.
The President said this while talking to Muhammad Anwar Khan, President of Islamic Relief USA, Asif Ali Sherazi, Country Director of Islamic Relief Pakistan and Raza Hussain Qazi, Advocacy Specialist at Islamic Relief Pakistan (IRP), who called on him, at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
He appreciated the program launched by Islamic Relief International in Pakistan to empower the widows by imparting them with skills to earn their livelihood, educating the street children in various parts of the country and improving the skills level of underprivileged persons.
