Haqiqi Azadi movement will continue till elections are held: Imran Khan

LAHORE: A day ahead of the decisive long march, PTI Chairman Imran Khan said he coming to protest for the sake of the nation and will continue the movement for real freedom.

“I am going for sake of the nation. The people will come out for me,” he said during an interview with BOL News senior anchorperson Sami Ibrahim.

Imran Khan said an attempt to create a controversy between him and statements institutions. “This is my country. This is my army. A country cannot progress without a strong defence,” he said.

He said his conflict was not with certain individuals with the state institutions who had violated human rights, rather than the army. “They did injustice with Shahbaz Gill, Arshad Sharif, and Azam Swati. If these black sheep are removed, it would strengthen the institution.”

When asked about his meeting with the president over the appointment of the army chief, he said the government made an unnecessary controversy over the key appointment.

He said they agreed with the choice of the government even though Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had no right to hold consultations with fugitive and convicted Nawaz Sharif.

He said consultations will only be held with the government if it was serious about holding elections. He said the government has worsened the situation for the past seven months and only worked to end corruption cases.

He said elections are the only solutions to bring political stability. However, he said the government is concerned about losing the election and wants to drag the nation into default merely to protect their corruption.

When asked if he will attend the rally in Rawalpindi despite his injury, he said the main purpose of the Haqiqi Azadi March was to fight against two political families that had ruined the nation since the last three decades.

He vowed to fight against the corrupt mafia till his last breath. He said the people of Sindh requires freedom from ‘Zardari mafia’ the most.

He said elections are inevitable as the government cannot stay in power for long as the economy is sinking. He said even if the elections are delayed in October, the current government will face certain defeat. He said they will maintain pressure on the government until fresh elections are held and continue the Haqiqi Azadi movement.

When asked about the return of Nawaz Sharif, he said it was the degradation of democratic and moral values. He said Nawaz Sharif was convicted by the Supreme Court and lied to leave from the country.

Imran Khan said he has no problem with Nawaz Sharif’s return as the nation has changed but making result to benefit him shows a decline in moral values which will harm the nation.
