ISLAMABABAD: Islamabad authorities have prevented the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from setting up a stage for the long march rally at Faizabad.

Police stopped the construction of the main stage and even confiscated the identity cards of the workers. Authorities said the stage is being shifted from Faizabad to Murree Road.

The party started setting up the stage again at Faizabad after recovering permission from local authorities but hurdles have been created in preparation for the rally.

Earlier, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) conditionally allowed PTI to hold a public rally in Faizabad. PTI has been asked to vacate Faizabad on the night of November 26 after the public gathering as the England cricket team is arriving in Rawalpindi for a Test series.

PTI Chairman has been barred from using a sunroof vehicle before or after the public gathering and has been directed to follow the route agreed upon with the administration.

PTI leader Asad Umar claimed that the authorities failed to provide any reason for the move. He said the Islamabad administration is deliberately trying to increase the threat to Imran’s life. He said the party will make another request to the authorities to grant permission.
