Pakistani pilgrims visits shrine of Nizamuddin in New Delhi

NEW DELHI: A group of 147 Pakistani zaireen visited the shrine of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya (RA) in New Delhi.

The Pakistani pilgrims are visiting New Delhi from 7-13 November to participate in the 719th annual Urs of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya (RA).

The group is being led Mr Muqeet Ahsen, an official of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Islamabad.

The Pakistani pilgrims have come to participate in religious ceremonies under the framework of the 1974 Protocol.

According to Pakistan High Commission, 147 Pakistani zaireen accompanied by Charge d’Affaires Mr Aftab Hasan Khan and diplomats from the Pakistan High Commission in India, visited the shrine on Saturday.

The visitors were received at the shrine by Sajjada Nashin Diwan Syed Tahir Nizami.

The delegation was received at the shrine by Sajjada Nashin (hereditary caretaker) Diwan Syed Tahir Nizami and members of the Dargah Committee.

The placed the traditional chaddar at the shrine and offered special prayers for peace and prosperity in Pakistan.

Sajjadah Nasheen Dewan Syed Tahir Nizami also did the dastarbandi (traditional turban wearing) of the Charge d’Affaire and the group leader of zaireen on the occasion.

 

The zaireen also visited the Dargah of Hazrat Amir Khusro (RA), which is located in the same compound, and offered dua.

The Urs of the 14th century Sufi saint Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya is celebrated every year with traditional fervour. Devotees from many countries participate in the annual Urs of the revered saint.

A group of Pakistani pilgrims met the Charge d’Affaire at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi. The visitors thanked the Government of Pakistan and the High Commission for providing facilities during their visit to New Delhi.
