LAHORE: The Punjab Police detained one more person from Wazirabad in the assassination attempt  case of Chairman Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) and former prime minister Imran Khan.

Police sources said the arrested person is a close relative of the main attacker Naveed. The attacker parked a motorcycle at his relative shop before the attack.

According to the police, Naveed reached the shop of the arrested person on the motorbike and parked the bike at the shop. The attacker Naveed reached the PTI long march rally on foot.

Sources said Naveed made an assassination attempt on former prime minister Imran Khan after reaching the rally.

The investigation of the arrested person is underway.

The number of people detained in the Imran Khan assassination case has increased to four.

Earlier, Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique said that a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) should be formulated with consensus to investigate the firing incident on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan at Wazirabad.

He said that the JIT should include well-reputed officers from the federal and provincial agencies, investigating within a set time frame and share all the facts with the nation.
