51st martyrdom anniversary of Sawar Muhammad Hussain is being observed

RAWALPINDI: The 51st martyrdom anniversary of Sawar Muhammad Hussain, Nishan-e-Haider, is being observed on Saturday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Sawar Muhammad Hussain was the first soldier to be awarded Nishan-e-Haider.

His fearless actions in the 1971 War inflicted heavy losses on the enemy, destroying 16 Indian Tanks thus proving that courage knows no bounds.

Sawar Hussain was born on 18th January 1949 in Jatli village in Gujar Khan and embraced martyrdom on this day in 1971 while fighting valiantly at Zafarwal- Shakargarh Sector.

Earlier, the participants of the 5th Maritime Security Workshop visited Naval Headquarters here.
The delegation was led by Commandant Pakistan Navy War College Rear Admiral Javed Iqbal, a Pakistan Navy.

The workshop participants were briefed on the Pakistan Navy’s challenges and responses including Navy contributions towards the promotion of a Blue Economy.

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi interacted with the participants of the workshop.
Amjad Khan Niazi underscored Pakistan Navy initiatives in enhancing maritime and coastal security, operational readiness, PN initiatives for supporting quality education, the health sector, and the socio-economic uplift of the coastal community.
