KARACHI: Airport Security Force (ASF) staff on Friday recovered about two kilogramme ice from a woman going to Bahrain at the Karachi airport, Bol News reported.

The ASF spokesperson said the passenger lady, Humaira Akbar, had concealed the 1.933 kg ice (crystal meth) in plastic packets in line of bags.

The spokesperson said the ASF staff foiled the attempt to smuggle the narcotic. After initial investigation, the Airport Security Force handed over the suspect to the Anti-Narcotic Force (ANF) with the recovered drug for further legal action, he said.

On December 11, Anti-Narcotic Force (ANF) had raided a courier office located on Korangi Road and recovered a large quantity of crystal meth being sent abroad.

The anti-narcotics agency had foiled an attempt to smuggle crystal meth to Australia and London through a private courier company and seized the shipment.

An ANF spokesperson had said the drugs were concealed in two parcels containing curtains and women’s clothing. The total weight of the parcels was 27 kg, the spokesperson said.

The ANF had recovered a parcel containing 23.4 kg of crystal meth, while another parcel contained 3.4kg of the drugs set to be shipped to Australia.

ANF had said a case had been filed against the smuggler under the anti-narcotics act and started an investigation.
