LAHORE: An anti-narcotics court in Lahore acquits Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah in the drugs recovery case along with another accused.

Judge Muhammad Naeem Shaikh of the Special Anti-Narcotics Court in Lahore heard the case.

Rana Sanaullah had filed a petition for the acquittal in the case maintaining that he should be granted relief as there is no strong evidence against him.

He also claimed that the case against him was made on political grounds.

Rana Sanaullah was arrested on July 1, 2019, by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) from the Islamabad-Lahore motorway near the Sukheki point.

On the other hand, the interior minister today said that PML-N has requested former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to lead upcoming general elections as the party wants to enter an election campaign under his supervision.

Rana Sanaullah said that Nawaz Sharif will be needed in the upcoming general elections or during the dissolution of the assemblies, where he will lead the party and important decisions will also be made.
