LAHORE: PML-N leader Hamza Shehbaz has decided to return to the country amid an ongoing political crisis in Punjab, BOL News reported.
According to reports, Hamza Shehbaz will arrive in Pakistan on January 5. He is returned on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Hamza Shehbaz, who is also Leader Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly, is currently in the United States and will reach Pakistan on January 5. He will preside over a meeting of PML-N and coalition parliamentary parties on January 7.
On December 13, Hamza Shahbaz went abroad and meet PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif in London. An accountability court was informed that Hamza Shehbaz could not attend the hearing in a money laundering case as he was in London for the treatment of his daughter who is a cardiac patient.
Hamza is returning to the country at a time when Punjab in embroiled in another political crisis after PTI Chairman Imran Khan announced to dissolve the provincial assembly.
Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi is aiming to dissolve the Punjab Assembly after securing a vote of confidence from the assembly. A session of the provincial assembly has not been summoned on January 11.
Earlier this week, Punjab Governor Baligh-ur-Rehman denotified Pervaiz Elahi as chief minister and dissolved the cabinet in a bid to prevent the dissolution of the assembly.
The move was suspended by the Lahore High Court (LHC) after the chief minister assured that he would not disband the assembly before obtaining a trust vote.
