Imran Khan says Punjab CM to take vote of confidence before Jan 11
LAHORE: Imran Khan, Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Chairman, on Sunday said the Punjab chief minister would take a vote of confidence before January 11.
Talking to senior journalists at his Zaman Park residence in Lahore, Imran Khan said they had no doubt that Punjab CM Parvez Elahi would not dissolve the assembly. To a query, he said he had no contact with the establishment. He said presumably the establishment was going towards the election in April 2023.
Imran Khan said when the two assemblies were dissolved, then the election would have to be held. He said it would not affect them, if the elections were delayed even after dissolution of the assemblies. “We did not immediately dissolve the assemblies because we wanted to convince the allies,” he said.
On December 24, PTI had decided that Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi would seek a vote of confidence before the provincial assembly was dissolved.
PTI senior leader Fawad Chaudhry had said that the party leadership had decided that the Punjab CM would take a vote of confidence.
Talking to media along with provincial minister Aslam Iqbal, the former federal minister had said that the assembly would be dissolved after the process of taking the vote of confidence by the chief minister was completed.
