LAHORE: PTI Chairman Imran Khan has urged Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) to take notice of the threats to Murad Saeed.

“I am appealing to the CJP to take notice of this letter’s content,” he said in a tweet sharing a letter written by PTI leader Murad Saeed to President Dr Arif Alvi highlighting the threats to his life.

The former prime minister said Azam Swati was already facing the worst form of human rights abuses. He expressed disappointment over the lack of action taken by the judiciary.

“Already Senator Swati continues to suffer the worst form of human rights abuses sadly without any intervention from our honourable Judiciary,” he said.

He said that journalist Arshad Sharif was also facing life threats and had even written a letter to the president. “After what happened to Arshad Sharif despite his writing to the President about the life threats he was facing, I would urge the CJP to take notice of this before it is too late,” he added.

It must be noted that PTI leader Murad Saeed has written a letter to the President Dr Arif Alvi regarding threats to his life.

In the letter, the PTI leader has penned down the details regarding stalking by unidentified persons and threats to his life and requested the President to take notice of the situation.

While referring to the case of slain journalist Arshad Sharif, he said that the journalist also requested the government to take action for his security but nothing was heard and Pakistan lost a loyal journalist and patriotic citizen.

He said that fake cases are being registered against him in the center and he along with his family is being threatened. “I was asked to move the family several times but I have complete faith in Allah.”

Murad Saeed wrote, “Mr President, you are the head of state and supreme commander of the armed forces, I hope that the negligence of state institutions and departments regarding Arshad Sharif’s letter will not be repeated.”

He also said that in a country where FIR could not be registered against an assassination attempt on a former prime minister, there has been little hope for justice.
