ISLAMABAD: Following the suicide blast attempt in Islamabad, the DIG police has asked the Chief Commissioner to form a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) for the probe in to the matter.
DIG has written a letter to the chief commissioner in this regard and recommended him to form an eight-member team for the investigation of the blast that took lives of four cops.
The JIT will be headed by SSP of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and will have 3 DSPs. Apart from the investigating officer, two officers of sensitive institutions will also be part of the JIT.
Pertinently, a blast took place in Islamabad yesterday when the cops tried to stop a suspicious vehicle.
The blast took lives of four cops and left several injured including civilians.
Police have lodged an FIR of the Islamabad blast incident under sections of murder and terrorism.
As per initial investigations of the security institutes, it was a suicide blast and the bomber was wearing a suicide jacket containing 12-15 kg explosive material. Sources said the explosive material was not installed in the vehicle.
