ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has formally issued a directive for the grant of Shuhada package to martyred police constable of Islamabad Capital Territory Police Syed Adeel Hussain who laid down his life during a suicide attack in Sector 1/10.

The prime minister also directed for handing over a cheque worth Rs10 million as a financial package to the bereaved family of late taxi driver Syed Sajjad Haider Shah, PM Office Media Wing said in a press release on Sunday.

The deputy commissioner Islamabad would hand over this cheque to the bereaved family.

The Prime Minister’s Office issued directives to the ministry of interior for taking necessary steps in this regard.

According to the investigation, Sajjad had no connection with the terrorists or their plan.

The blast took place in his taxi on December 23. He was from Rehana, district Chakwal and was currently residing in Muslimabad, Dhoke Syedan, Rawalpindi. He left behind his wife and four children. The family of the deceased thanked the prime minister for the financial assistance.

Following the suicide blast in Islamabad, the DIG police has asked the Chief Commissioner to form a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) for the probe into the matter.

The DIG has written a letter to the chief commissioner in this regard and recommended him to form an eight-member team for the investigation of the blast that took lives of four cops.

The JIT will be headed by SSP of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and will have 3 DSPs. Apart from the investigating officer, two officers of sensitive institutions will also be part of the JIT.

Pertinently, a blast took place in Islamabad yesterday when the cops tried to stop a suspicious vehicle.
The blast took lives of four cops and left several injured including civilians.
