KARACHI: Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Odho on Friday asked citizens not to resist during snatching of mobile phones, Bol News reported.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Additional Inspector General Javed Alam Odho asked Karachiites to point out to police about suspicious people. He said police had arrested 1200 people living illegally in the megalopolis.

The AIG, Karachi, said south police arrested the suspect involved in the biggest robbery of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this year. The suspect Shah Faridul Haq was arrested with firearms, he maintained.

On the other hand, he announced Rs0.1 million for SSP East Investigation, apprising that the SIU had busted a drug-peddler gang. “Two suspects have been arrested,” he said.

The Karachi police chief said police were monitoring drugs and the people residing illegally in the city.

He relayed that the suspect who killed a citizen, Khalid, had been arrested in New Karachi industrial area (West Zone) along his accomplices.

Odho said rise in incidents of children’s rape was also witnessed in Karachi. 22 such cases took place in November and December, out of which four kids were slaughtered, he said.

“Children were killed in total 251 rape cases this year. 225 of the cases were resolved and 233 suspects were arrested,” the Karachi police chief said.

He said the other suspect was also identified and his close friend, Aziz, was included in the investigation. The Karachi police chief said the arrested suspect was 16-year-old Tajik Afghan boy.

During the press conference, he also apprised that police had arrested the suspect, with the help of CCTV footage and eye-witnesses, who killed a young boy on December 15 in Mobina Town during a robbery attempt.

He said the victim, Bilal, was taking tea at a hotel near NED university, when two robbers came to snatch mobile phone from him. “This aggrieved the entire city,” he added.

Javed Alam Odho said police team had launched an investigation into the incident last night and arrested the suspect in injured condition.
