KP has warned of staging protests in front of Parliament House.
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Mushtaq Ghani has threatened to hold a session of the provincial assembly outside the Parliament House in Islamabad to protest against the financial crisis in the province.
The Speaker has given an indication to convene a meeting of the KP Assembly in front of the Parliament House. In a statement, he strongly laments the attitude of the federal government toward the province,
The attitude of the federal government towards Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is like strangers. Due to the indifference, the next session of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly might be held outside Parliament House to raise our voice, he said.
Speaker Mushtaq Ghani said the common man is being oppressed for political purposes. He requested opposition members are also requested to keep public interest above political affiliation.
He said the federal government should pay all outstanding dues Rs180 billion to the province soon. He said all assembly lawmakers must come together and take the right of their people from the federal government.
He said the federal government has a misconception that can achieve its political interests through these tactics. He said the budget reduction of the merged districts is a great injustice to the people of remote underdeveloped areas.
It must be mentioned that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has warned the Centre of staging massive protests in front of the parliament that the province’s outstanding dues worth billions are not released.
Earlier KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan said the province has run out of funds due to the non-release of dues from the federal government.
He claimed the federal government is trying to squeeze the provincial government and there are insufficient funds for salary payments. He warned the federal government and said the people of KP will protest in Islamabad if the funds are not released.
He said the provincial government is facing a tough time ever since the PDM took over. He alleged that the incumbent government has scrapped all the steps taken by the PTI government and reduced the budget of the erstwhile FATA.
KP CM said the Centre should take the province into confidence over the economic situation. He threatened the federal government with strikes and sit-ins outside the parliament if their dues were not paid at the earliest.
