KARACHI: Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai and her husband Asser Malik met with the Pakistan women’s cricket team and U-19 women’s team.

Malala Yousafzai met with women team stars Sidra Ameen, Diana Baig and Tuba Hassan and Eman Ali and Shawal Zulfiqar from the U-19 women’s team.

Speaking to the women cricketers, Malala Yousafzai expressed her best wishes for their upcoming endeavours, especially the 2023 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. She motivated the players to have faith in their abilities, carry on practicing and enjoy the game as much as they can.

She added that the players should always accept any challenges because success always lies beyond hardships and challenges.

Malala Yousafzai said both of them are very fond of cricket and follow it regularly. They would also try to come and watch the women’s World Cup games, he added.

The players gifted Malala a signed T-shirt and a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) jacket.

Earlier, Noble Laureate Malala Yousafzai met with Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and former Federal Minister Moonis Elahi at CM office in which activities of Malala Fund in Pakistan, future strategy and other projects came under discussion.

The promotion of education in the province especially of girls education and STEAM programme was also discussed.

Malala Yousafzai lauded CM Parvez Elahi’s programme to introduce reforms in the education sector and paid rich tributes to the education-friendly steps of CM Parvez Elahi.

The Chief Minister while talking with Malala Yousafzai disclosed that 25 thousand teachers would be inducted on the vacant posts in the schools across Punjab.

CM announced to impose a ban on giving corporal punishment in schools and madaris on the request of Malala.
