Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori meets Dr Farooq Sattar
KARACHI: Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori met estranged Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) leader Dr Farooq Sattar as part of ongoing efforts to reunite the party factions.
Tessori is playing a key role in bringing about the merger of the MQM factions. Sindh Governor’s House is now the focal point of political activities.
The governor held a meeting with Dr Farooq Sattar, who runs his own faction known as the MQM Bahali Committee. Sattar arrived at the head Governor’s House on Friday evening and held a detailed meeting with Tessori on the political situation.
Sources revealed Farooq Sattar took the governor into confidence over his decision. Sattar said he stands alongside Governor Sindh and agreed to support him. He also assured to make efforts in reuniting the MQM.
Earlier this week, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori had visited the headquarters of Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) and met with Mustafa Kamal.
Tessori reached PSP headquarters Pakistan House to meet Mustafa Kamal and Anis Qaimkhani where he was given a cordial welcome.
Tessori held a meeting with PSP chief Mustafa Kamal. They discussed the current political situation, unification of the MQM factions and other matters. Kamal also expressed willingness in cooperating with the MQM and assured the governor complete support.
Earlier this week, the MQM’s Rabita Committee expressed its support for Mustafa Kamal-led Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) and Dr Farooq Sattar’s decision to rejoin the party.
MQM Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui held a meeting of the coordination committee Governor’s House on Wednesday where the decision was made.
More than 30 members including Waseem Akhtar, Khawaja Izharul Hassan, and Qadir Khanzada, participated in the meeting in the presence of the governor.
The committee members welcomed the decision to invite Mustafa Kamal and Farooq Sattar back in the MQM. The committee unanimously decided to entrust Siddiqui with making the decision to unite the MQM, PSP, and Farooq Sattar.
Tessori is playing a key role in bringing about the merger of the MQM factions. He has expressed his willingness to play his part in reuniting the party.
