LAHORE: Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said Thursday that Pervaiz Elahi is no more the Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab constitutionally as he failed to take the vote of confidence.

He while addressing the media said that a notification in this regard will be issued today by Governor Punjab.

“If the CM fails to take the vote of confidence then his position won’t remain the same,” he added.

“New CM election schedule will be announced along with the notification.”

While touching on the political situation in the province he said that there is no political crisis in Punjab adding that there is no value in the letter written to the President by the Speaker Punjab Assembly as he needs to work as per the instructions of the federal government.

The interior minister also hints at Hamza Shehbaz taking over as the new CM.

Rana Sanaullah also reiterates that all have been in consensus with the PDM and the government has been preparing for the elections along with the preparations for the return of Mian Nawaz Sharif.
