ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued a directive to grant Martyrs’ Package for the policeman who lost his life in the suicide blast in Islamabad.

The prime minister has directed the Interior Ministry to take necessary steps to give Shuhada package to martyred police constable of Islamabad Capital Territory Police Syed Adeel Hussain who laid down his life during a suicide attack in Sector 1/10.

The prime minister also directed for handing over a cheque worth Rs10 million as a financial package to the bereaved family of late taxi driver Syed Sajjad Haider Shah.

The deputy commissioner Islamabad would hand over this cheque to the bereaved family. The Prime Minister’s Office issued directives to the ministry of interior for taking necessary steps in this regard.

The incident happened on Friday when a suicide attacker riding a taxi cab blew himself up when four policemen of the Eagle Squad intercepted them at Sector I-10/4.

As a result of the blast a police official was martyred, while seven others including four policemen and civilians were injured. Islamabad Police CTD registered an FIR and initiated an investigation while a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has been formed to probe the matter.

Four Eagle Squad cops led by Head Constable Adeel Hussain were on duty at East Service Road of I-10 when they noticed a suspicious cab.

The policeman asked him to stop but the driver sped away and was chased towards Sector I-10 where the terrorists blew themselves up.

Head constable Adeel Hussain was martyred in the suicide blast while Constables Muhammad Hanif, Muhammad Yousaf and Muhammad Bilal were injured.
