SC orders JIT to submit report of Arshad Sharif’s murder case

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) has ordered the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to submit a report about Arshad Sharif’s murder case within two weeks.

A five-member bench heard Arshad Sharif’s murder suo moto case.

Chief Justice of Pakistan ordered the immediate start of the investigation into Arshad Sharif’s murder and the procedure of investigation will be determined by the JIT itself.

Additional Attorney General said JIT will record statements of Arshad Sharif’s mother and others.

He said the investigation will be at the mercy of the cooperation of the Kenya Police and the investigation team will make all possible efforts to complete the work at the earliest.

Chief Justice said, “If the JIT faces any obstacle, it can approach the court, the If the JIT needs anything including funds, it will be told to the government.”

Justice Mazahar Naqvi questioned, “Has JIT summoned the named accused in the case.”
Justice Mazahar Naqvi observed the first task of the JIT will be to summon the accused. He directed JIT to submit the provisional report in the chamber.

The hearing of the suo moto notice case on Arshad Sharif’s murder adjourned till the first week of January.

Earlier, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial while pursuing the case of BOL News Senior Anchorperson Arshad Sharif murder ordered the formation of a joint investigation team (JIT) to probe into the matter.

The court also rejected the JIT formed by the government hours after it was formed.
