Thailand-bound Turkish Airline forced to land at Karachi Airport

KARACHI: A Turkish Airlines flight heading from Istanbul to Thailand made an emergency landing at Karachi Airport, BOL News reported.

Turkish Airlines flight TK-172 boarded from Istanbul and was headed to Phuket, Thailand when it faced disruption due to a passenger’s unruly behaviour.

The drunk passenger was offloaded at Karachi airport when he started misbehaving with the cabin crew and other passengers. The flight air hostess complained to the captain on the complaint of a passenger.

The flight landed at Karachi airport after receiving permission from the air traffic controller. However, the airport authorities said it was not an emergency landing.

The passenger was arrested by the Airport Security Force (ASF) and transferred to the transit area. He will be deported back to Türkiye on the next flight. The airline then resumed its journey to Thailand.

In  August this year, a Turkish aircraft carrying relief goods for the flood victims made an emergency landing at Karachi airport.

The aircraft made the emergency landing after one of the engines malfunctioned. The plane’s pilot told the Air Traffic Controller that the left engine had stopped functioning and an emergency landing will be required.

According to Civil Aviation Agency (CAA) the airport authorities immediately make all necessary arrangements and the Turkish Air Force pilot skillfully landed the plane. It was reported that oil was leaking from the left engine of the plane.
