PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General Moazzam Jah Ansari on Tuesday said about 10-12 kg explosive material would have been used in the blast that took place in the Peshawar mosque on January 30.

Talking to media in Peshawar, Moazzam Jah Ansari said the rescue operation had been completed at the site of bomb blast. He said six DIGs, units and quarters were present in the Peshawar Police Line area where the bomb exploded.

“Checking is done only at the main gate, however negligence happened in checking,” he said adding that they would try to figure out who was the facilitator of the suicide bomber. It would also be investigated that how the explosive material was collected, he said.

The KP inspector general said the Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan first claimed carrying out the terrorist incident and then denied it. He said DNA samples of the assailant were collected. “Identification of the bomber could be possible through DNA,” he said adding that the probe committed had been formed under supervision of the CCPO.

He said more deaths occurred because roof of the mosque collapsed. Offshoot outfits of terrorist organisations could be involved in the attack, he maintained.

A suicide bomber blew himself during Namza-e-Zuhr congregation at a mosque near Police Lines in Peshawar on Monday, leaving at least 93 people and more than 150 injured.

Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) spokesperson has confirmed the number of casualties whereas on the other hand.

According to security officials’ claim, the suicide bomber was present in the front row during the prayers when he detonated himself, hurting numerous devoted people who were praying the Zuhr.

The roof of the mosque collapsed after the blast, due to which injured people were stuck under the rubble. The Rescue teams took out the people from the rubble and shifted them to hospitals.
