KARACHI: Unknown men hurled acid on two young girls and their brother returning from work in Korangi area of Karachi, Bol News reported.

The heart-wrenching incident occurred in Bagh-e-Korangi near Saima Villas in the limits of Korangi Industrial Area police station when unnamed men hurled acid on two young sisters and their brother.

The accused threw acid on eighteen-year-old Saira and sixteen-year-old Saima, who was saved by her brother. The girl’s brother Waqas, aged 19, was also injured in the acid attack and was shifted to Burns Wards in Civil Hospital.

The exact motive could not be ascertained immediately but police have declared it a personal dispute over a marriage proposal.

The sibling’s father Abbas said s that the three were returning from work on a motorcycle when fuel ran out near the Korangi Causeway riverbed.

He said Waqas tried to restart the bike when the two girls started walking towards the house when the acid was thrown. He said the boy was injured while saving his sisters.

The father said he had recently received a marriage proposal for his daughter which he had refused. He expressed concern and said the attack may be related to his rejection. Abbas said he is currently in hospital and will file a case tomorrow.

Police said that the incident seems to be a relationship dispute. They said both the girls and their brother are seriously injured in the incident. They added the complaint should come to the police station and a case will be filed as per applicable laws.
