MAKKAH: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Syed Asim Munir Shah arrived in Makkah and performed Umrah.

The army chief reached Makkah from Riyadh during his official visit to Saudi Arabia. He visited the Great Mosque Masjid-ul-Haram and performed Umrah.

The door of the Holy Kaabah was specially opened for the dignitary. He performed Nawafil and prayed for the development and prosperity in Pakistan as well as peace and stability in the country.

Gen Asim Munir is on an official visit to Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 4-10^th January. This is his first visit after he assumed charge as the army chief in November last year.

He will call on the senior leadership of both brotherly countries to discuss matters of mutual interest, military-to-military cooperation and bilateral ties focusing on security related subjects.

On Friday, General Asim Munir on Friday met Chief of General Staff of Saudi Arabia, Lieutenant-General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, said Saudi defence ministry.

The Saudi defence ministry said both the chiefs emphasized the strength and durability of bilateral relations between the two fraternal countries,

They discussed on enhancing military and defence cooperation and reviewed important regional and international issues of common interest.

Earlier on arrival, COAS Gen Asim Munir met Minister of Defence of Saudi Arabia Khalid bin Salman Al Saud in Riyadh and discussed enhancing the military and defence cooperation between the two countries.

The Saudi Defence Minister congratulated General Asim Munir on his appointment as the new army chief of the Pakistani Army.

During the meeting, they emphasized the strength and durability of bilateral relations between the two countries and discussed military and defence cooperation.
