ISLAMABAD: A policeman was injured and a robber got killed in a shootout between police and robbers in 9-I area of Islamabad on Sunday, Bol News reported.

Police said police official Kamran got wounded. They said three dacoits were fleeing after the robbery. Upon receiving the tipoff, police chased the suspects. Police said during the chase the robbers opened fire on police officials.

“During the shootout, one robber was killed and two fled away. Search is underway for the culprits,” they maintained.

Meanwhile, suspects opened fire on police officials in Rawalpindi as well. They attacked police at a check-post on IJP Road. Resultantly, two cops were injured and one robber was killed. Police sources said when police signaled them to stop, they opened fire on them.

In a conversation with BOL News, Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi Javed Alam Odho had admitted that rising street crimes in Karachi were a huge problem that the police were unable to control.

He had said the police investigation was weak and benefitted the accused who evaded punishment in the court. He had said the investigation department had always been the weakness of the police and efforts were being made to improve investigation for swift prosecution.

He had said street crime was a major problem in Karachi that the police had failed to control. He had said the police were facing difficulties in curbing the rising street crime.
