ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court in Islamabad has adjourned the hearing on a post-arrest bail petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry.

Pertinently, Fawad Chaudhry has been facing charges of publicly threatening the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and was arrested from his residence days back.

The leader was remanded for 14 days to Adiala jail after the police’s plea for an extension in physical remand was rejected by the court.

In today’s hearing, Fawad’s counsel Babar Awan appeared before the court for arguments on the bail petition. He was informed by the judge that he has not received the case file and record.

The case was then adjourned till 10 am.

Upon resuming the case, the judge maintained that the police has also filed a petition against the rejection of physical remand.

Babar Awan replied that they were not informed neither they received any notice in this regard. He also said that despite instructions by the court twice, the investigating officer (IO) didn’t appear.

To which the court said that they will wait till 3 pm and adjourned the hearing.
