ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday issued bail-able arrest warrants for PTI leaders and Chief Imran Khan in contempt of the electoral body case.

Arrest warrants are being issued for Asad Umar, Fawad Chaudhry along with the PTI Chief. The commission has also rejected the plea for exemption from appearance in court.

A four-member bench of the ECP has announced the reserved verdict on the plea filed for exemption in the contempt case against the PTI leaders and Imran Khan.

The decision was reserved in the last hearing after the completion of arguments.

During the previous hearing, Advocate Ali Bukhari appeared on behalf of the PTI and said that PTI chief Imran Khan’s health condition would not allow him to present before the ECP, whereas Fawad Chaudhary’s mother is hospitalized so he requested the ECP to exempt them from personal appearance in the case. PTI leader Asad Umar missed his flight that’s why he could appear before the court.

The ECP member Nisar Durrani remarked that the PTI leader Asad Umar has not appeared before the ECP for the last four months.

They also asked the PTI counsel to submit Imran Khan’s medical certificate and also submit an answer to show cause notice.
