ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to opt for a new system for the upcoming general elections in the country and will introduce an ‘Election Management System’ (EMS).

The commission has decided to take the help of the system for the evaluation of results and all other processes involved in the elections.

In the primary phase, the electoral body will start preparation for EMS. Sources in the know have said that a private IT firm will brief ECP on the system to be introduced.

EMS will handle all matters related to the elections including the results, voter turnout and party positions.

Sources also said that the EMS will include election forms, assets of political parties and members of parliament and provincial assembly, nomination papers of candidates.

The Election Commission has shortlisted a private IT company for EMS, the private company will inform the Election Commission about its capacity and planning regarding the creation of EMS.
