KARACHI: The prices of flour have reduced by up to Rs10 per kilogram in open markets of Karachi after a crisis for over two months, BOL News reported.

Chairman Karachi Wholesale Grocers Association Abdul Rauf Ibrahim said the price fine flour and chakki atta have also been reduced after the Sindh government released wheat quota to flour mills.

The rate of wheat has been reduced by Rs130 to Rs120 per kg. As a result, the price of chakki atta went down from Rs160 to Rs150 per kg.

Chief Secretary Sindh held a meeting with high officials on the prices and supply of flour in Karachi. He ordered deputy commissioner to take action and control the prices

Amid an acute shortage of flour and rising prices, the Sindh government released subsidized wheat quota to flour mills which reduced the flour price up to Rs10 per kilogram.

The provincial food department has released 97,000 tonnes of subsidized wheat to flour mills and 700,500 tonnes to the chakki owners in Karachi. In Hyderabad, the food department released 27,947 tonnes of wheat to flour mills and 7,000 tonnes to chakki owners.
