ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif – upon his return to Pakistan after attending the Geneva Conference for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of flood-affected areas – has called an energy conservation session.

Sources in the know have said that the session has been called by the premier to scrutinize the energy conservation plan and its implementation.

It was also revealed that explanations have been sought from different ministries regarding the non-implementation of the plan.

During the meeting, the power and petroleum division will also brief the prime minister.

Pertinently, days back an energy conservation plan was announced by the federal government to be implemented across the country.

The Federal Cabinet approved the plan and decided to close the markets and marriage halls at 8:30 pm and 10 pm respectively.

The plan was said to save Rs 62 billion. However, the federal government failed to implement the energy conservation plan in the country.
