Pakistan Army soldier was martyred after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded in Jani Khel area of Bannu District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said sepoy Gul Sher was martyred in the explosion. The 24-year-old soldier belonged to Khyber district.

The military’s press wing said the operation against terrorists in Janikhel area is ongoing. It added that sanitization of the area is being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists.

Earlier this month, a soldier of Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom during an operation in general area Jani Khel in Bannu district.

The ISPR said security forces conducted an Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) and killed four terrorists.

It added the troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location and an intense fire exchange took place between the troops and terrorists during the conduct of the operation.

It said weapons and ammunition was also recovered from the killed terrorists who remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and killing of innocent citizens.

The martyred soldier was identified as Sepoy Muhammad Wasim (age 25 years, resident of Khairpur) who embraced martyrdom after fighting gallantly during the operation.
