ISLAMABAD: A special (banking) court extended the interim pre-arrest bail of former prime minister and Chairman Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) chairman Imran Khan in a funding case.
A banking court Judge Rakshanda Shaheen heard the pre-arrest bail application in the funding case against Imran Khan and other PTI leaders.
Judge Rakshanda Shaheen rejected PTI chief Imran Khan’s request to investigate him at Zaman Park Lahore.
The court ordered PTI chairman Imran Khan to become part of the investigation process and appear before the investigation officer.
The special court accepted former prime minister Imran Khan’s plea seeking today’s exemption from appearance.
The court extended the pre-arrest interim bail of the former prime minister until January 31 in a funding case.
It should be noted that PTI chief Imran Khan’s lawyers filed a request for exemption on medical grounds in the funding case, in which the lawyers stated that Imran Khan had a check-up on January 3.
Chairman PTI Imran Khan’s lawyers took the stand that FIA has also been asked to investigate, so they can come to Zaman Park, Lahore.
The co-accused in the case, Amir Mehmood Kiani, Saifullah Niazi, and other accused appeared before the court.
Earlier, PTI Chairman Imran Khan has approached the Lahore High Court (LHC), challenging the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) notice seeking to remove him as the party’s chairman.
