KARACHI: A young woman jumped into the sea in Do Darya area of Defence Housing Authority, BOL News reported.

Police said rescue teams are making frantic attempts to search for the girl’s body. Police found the girl’s handbag and recovered her identity card.

The woman has been identified as 22-year-old Sara Malik, daughter of Abrar Ahmed, said SSP South Syed Asad Raza. She is a resident of Azam Basti, Mehmoodabad.

Police reached the picnicking spot and started an investigation into the mysterious incident. Police said the motive why the girl jumped into the sea could not be revealed.

SSP South said the girl’s father has contacted the police. He said Abrar Ahmed is a retired police head constable. Her father recorded his initial statement to the police.

He said his daughter works at a local animal hospital and completed her house job recently. He did not answer on the motive why she took the drastic decision and jumped into the sea.
