QUETTA: The killing of three people, including a woman, in Haji Kot area of Barkhan district in Balochistan took a new turn after the post-mortem was conducted on the female victim.

Police found the bullet-riddled bodies from a well on Monday evening. The three people belonging to the Marri tribe were killed before their bodies were dumped in the well.

The victims were identified by the police as Giran Naz, aged 40-45, wife of Khan Muhammad Marri and her two sons Muhammad Nawaz and Abdul Qadir.

However, the preliminary post-mortem report had denied claims that the victim was the wife of Khan Muhammad Marri or the mother of the two young men whose bodies were found.

The report states that the female victim is aged between 16 to 17 years old. She has not been identified. The report said acid was poured on her face and neck after she was brutally killed.

The report has also found that that women was sexually assaulted before being killed. The woman was shot three times in the head after being raped. The post-mortem of the other two victims is being conducted.

It must be mentioned that the Marri tribesmen are holding a protest demonstration in the Red Zone of Quetta to mount pressure on the provincial government to arrest the culprits involved in the killings.

A large number of protesters blocked the main Red Zone leading towards the Governor’s House and Chief Minister’s House to vent their anger and demand justice for the victims of Barkhan incident.

Police arrested Balochistan Minister for Communication and Works Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran over the recovery of three bodies. He is accused of maintaining a private prison where the family members were locked up.

Khan Muhammad Marri said his family was kept in the private prison of Balochistan’s Minister Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran. He alleged that in 2019, his wife and seven children were imprisoned in Khetran’s private jail. He alleged that his family was killed after being tortured.

Khetran denied the allegation and termed it a conspiracy.  He said it was an attempt to defame and remove him as the tribal head of the Khetran tribe and such allegations are made whenever elections are near.

Government of Balochistan has formed a committee to investigate the incident. DIG Police Loralai Division has been appointed chairman of the inquiry committee.
