FIA had decided to initiate legal action against Shaukat Tarin.
ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has registered a case against the former finance minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shaukat Tarin for allegedly sabotaging negotiations between Pakistan and International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The case has been filed over an alleged audio leak of the former finance minister.
The case was filed against the former finance minister under Pakistan Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016 Section 20. Sections 124-A and 505 of the Pakistan Penal Code have also been included in the first information report (FIR).
Earlier, the Federal Investigation Agency decided to initiate legal proceedings against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Senator and former finance minister.
Sources said that the FIA had completed its investigation into the leaked audio of former federal finance minister Shaukat Tarin, and now the FIA had sought permission from the home ministry to take legal action against Shaukat Tareen and arrest him.
According to the FIA’s investigation, PTI Senator Tareen’s conversation was meant to harm the deal with the IMF, he wanted to harm national interests and security.
Pertinently, the audio clip of the PTI Senator with the finance ministers of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was leaked, after which the federal government sent the matter to FIA for investigation.
