KARACHI: The mortal remains of former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf will reach Pakistan today from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where he passed away on Sunday (February 5).

Pertinently, the former army chief passed away at the age of 79 after battling a prolonged illness. He was under treatment for amyloidosis at American Hospital Dubai.

As per sources, the body of the deceased former president will be flown to Pakistan on a special flight at 11:30 am Pakistan Standard Time (PST).

The body will be repatriated after a NOC from the Pakistani embassy in UAE and Musharraf’s wife Sehba Musharraf, his son Bilal and daughter Ayla will bring the body to his homeland.

The family sources have confirmed that the former army chief will be buried in Karachi and the doctors have suggested immediate burial of the deceased’s body.

Notably, the former military ruler left the country in March 2016 for Dubai to seek medical treatment and didn’t return to Pakistan since.

He was born on August 11, 1943, in Delhi and completed his early education at St Patrick’s High School in Karachi, and passed away at the age of 79.
